Plastic Recycling
This work focuses on developing sustainable and green strategies for materials development and polymer processing. Our team collects plastic wastes (polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyethylene terephthalate) from the leading industry partners in the cluster and converts plastic waste into value-added polymer composites. The initial approach to recycling plastic is adding a small amount of additive (hemp fibres or carbonized lignin) into plastic waste to produce polymer composites. We expect improved physical properties of polymer composites with these additives. Developed polymer composites will be used in 3D printing applications for housing in terms of plumbing and wiring.
